On June 28, 2023, Zhou Xiaofang, President of Galaxy China, traveled from the company’s base in Fugu County, Shaanxi Province, to Chongqing.
The purpose of her visit was a strategy session with one of the leading magnesium research and industry centers in China, based at Chongqing University. Under the leadership of Professor Pan Fusheng, the Institute is leading the way to new material science in the magnesium field, to new applications and products, and to breakout strategies for marketing and finance, so the magnesium industry can quickly reach its full potential.
Also at the meeting was Yang Yuansheng, former Director of Institute for Metals Research, who traveled from Shenyang for the two-day session, and Song Jiafeng, an engineer with the University. Attending remotely from Honolulu was Michael North, President of Galaxy International.
A major topic was the activities of the International Magnesium Society: a group that supports academic and applied research in magnesium chemistry and metallurgy, and publishes a Journal. Professors Pan and Yang are co-founders, and they invited Mr. North to chair an Executive Committee on Advanced Science. Galaxy Magnesium will join the International Magnesium Society as a full member.
The group also discussed the recent initiatives of L&J Holdings of Korea, which is expanding into the commodities and applications markets of magnesium with several global companies based in Korea. Galaxy recently signed a Contract with J&L Holdings.
